Step-by-Step Guide on How to Clean A Badly Stained Toilet

When cleaning a badly stained toilet, we all know the basics of using a toilet brush for scrubbing. But even if you use a toilet brush regularly, your toilet will still show a lot of yellow stains and lime scales. 

The good news for you is that once you figure out the method of deep cleaning a toilet, it will all take a few household items and essential products. Below is the step-by-step guideline that you can follow for cleaning the toilet.

Open the Windows

Most of the bowl cleaners contain a large amount of bleach. Therefore, you should consider making your bathroom well-ventilated by opening the door or window.

Wear Rubber Gloves

Make sure that you wear rubber or latex gloves for your safety before starting the process. It will prevent harmful chemicals build contact with your hands.

Apply Toilet Bowl Cleaner

First of all, take toilet bowl cleaner and apply it in the bowl and under the rim. This needs to be soaked for some time. Always follow this step before cleaning the rest of the toilet. Wear eye protection before cleaning the toilet, as most cleaning agents have harmful chemicals and bleach that can irritate your eyes. 

Clean Toilet Floor By Microfiber Cloth

Look at the floor you want to clean. Use a microfiber cloth along with some disinfectant to clean up the floor. Consider rinsing it with moist microfiber and make sure to clean the floor properly.

Spray Disinfectant

How to Clean the Toilet Tank

You should clean the toilet tank regularly so that it may not corrode or discolor. Below are some instructions that you can follow to keep the toilet tank spotless:

• Remove the lid that covers the tank and look at it attentively. If it needs to be cleaned, follow the steps mentioned above.
• If you notice reddish stains or spots on the tank, use the deep cleaning methods. Turn the valve for the water supply off and flush the toilet to clean the tank and empty it out.
• You can also use disinfectant sprays and scrubbing brushes for cleaning.
• If the stains appear to be persistent and stubborn, you may use white distilled vinegar. You should never use bleach for such purposes as it can cause corrosion in the tank’s internal components.
• Leave it and let it set overnight for 9 to 10 hours.
• Flush as long as you notice that the tank has become empty again. Give it a final scrub and turn the water on so that the tank may get refilled again. Flush it again to let it rinse out properly.
