How to Steam A Dress Without SteamerIf you are rushing to get ready to attend an important meeting at the office but the wrinkled dress is stressing you out in the meantime.

Or you may be traveling or at a place where you can’t access a steamer or Iron, so what would you do to Iron your clothes?

Whatever the situation is, the panic could be real if you do not find the solution. You might have heard about steaming outfits without a steamer. So, the question raising in your head might be, how would you steam a dress without a steamer?

In this post, we will show you how to steam a dress without a steamer in some of the most convenient and common ways.

How to Steam A Dress Without Steamer: 10 Effective Ways

People usually give preference to steaming dresses instead of ironing as it is one of the quickest ways to remove wrinkles. Steaming isn’t only a faster way but a  very useful method to make clothes soft and eliminate the microbial infection.

Therefore, you must know the accurate ways of doing this task. Below we have elaborated on 10 effective as well as efficient ways to steam your dress without a steamer.

Wrinkles Releasing Spray

Wrinkle-removing sprays are manufactured commercially to deal with dresses messed up by wrinkles in just a few minutes. If there is no steamer or iron present at your home, these sprays are very helpful in performing this task.

All you need to do is to sprinkle the spray on the wrinkled area and shake it well to hang it for drying. The wonders of this spray do not only remove the wrinkles but also stop the bad odor coming through clothes.

If you find it difficult to get a spray, use a water bottle to sprinkle water on the area and let it dry. All wrinkles will be removed without any effort.

Flat Iron

A flat iron or hair straightener doesn’t only straighten up your frizzy hair but is also very handy for removing curls and wrinkles from your clothes.

Even the harder parts of shirts, such as cuffs and collars, can be smoothened by it. You just need to damp the piece of cloth to clean the flat iron before using it to prevent any stain from getting on your dress.

Hairdryer Hack

If there is no steamer at your home, don’t worry. A hairdryer can solve your problem and remove all the wrinkles from your outfit. Just put down your dress and run a hair dryer on it while holding its nose.

You must keep a distance of a few inches from the outfit for safety reasons. For more wrinkles, you should spritz drops of water over the dress as the dryer will only provide heat, not steam.

Hot Metal Pot

This is how you can steam your clothes without using a steamer:

  • Take a pan or pot and fill it with water.
  • Boil water on the stove, and then drain the hot water out of it.
  • You can use the hot bottom as a way to provide steam for ironing clothes.

This is the easiest and labor-free trick to get wrinkle-free outfits.

Laundry Dryer

The steam dryer in the Maytag washer acts as real steam to iron clothes perfectly. You can also use any other dryer present in the washer for this purpose.

This steam dryer setting allows to de-wrinkle most messy clothes.

Ice Cubes & Clothes Dryer

The other way you can use the clothes dryer for steaming purposes is along with ice cubes.

  • Put the wrinkled clothes inside the dryer.
  • Add 3 or 4 chunks of ice cubes to it.
  • Turn on the most suitable cycle of the washer.
  • Remove clothes when the cycle completes.

The reason for using ice cubes is that after melting, the ice produces steam which helps in smoothing up your clothes inside the washer at a medium cycle.

Steam Through Kettle

No steamer, no problem. A kettle is another best way to steam a dress perfectly. Put the kettle on heat and let the water boil for some minutes.

After boiling, take the kettle and keep the jet of steam 20 centimeters farther from the spout over the wrinkled dress. The magical effects of the kettle will remove all wrinkles.

Shower Steam

One amazing alternative to steam a dress without a steamer is through hot shower steam. To do this, you need to hang the clothes on the hanger and shut the doors and windows of the bathroom to seal tight.

The clothes must be placed nearer to the shower and let it run for half an hour. With the help of steam and small droplets of water, all wrinkles will remove perfectly.

You should be careful in placing clothes near to shower and avoid getting them wet completely.

Layout Garments Under Mattress

This hack is very easy and requires no effort. Place the dress under the mattress over a flat surface. Then roll the dress just like a burrito.

Now keep that burrito-like folded dress under the mattress for half an hour. To get surprised, remove it from there and see the wonders of the mattress.

Spray Vinegar

You can make it on your own if you find it hard to get a wrinkle-removing spray. White vinegar is useful as a spray, and it is quite affordable.

Add one part of vinegar inside three parts of water to make a mixture. Apply this mixture to the wrinkled areas of the dress and leave it to air dry for some time.

The vinegar will act as a deodorizer as well as the best cleaning agent. Though this hack won’t provide steam, it can be helpful if you don’t have an iron.

Final Thoughts

Whatever the method you select to steam a dress without a steamer, all these tricks are highly effective. Why would you spend dollars on buying a steamer when you can try several ways to get things perfectly done without any inconvenience.

It is better to avoid clothes getting wrinkled in the first place by arranging them in a wardrobe without smashing them together.
